After yet another discussion of how we needed a king size quilt, I started this double irish chain/Maple leaf quilt a few weeks ago. Looking at the picture, I actually like the pattern better than I had when I started - less gaudy than was feared.
A lady at my local church quilting group had very kindly donated a number of quilting books to me (since I was the youngest there), including a book on "Quilting for People Who do not Have Time to Quilt" (approximate title). Half the blocks, then, are done on the sew-strips-into-long-blocks-and-cut method, and just fly. The other half, the maple leaves, take much longer, and will still require appliqued stems.
Laying out the completed blocks today, I estimate I'll still need twice as many as I currently have. As you can see, precise advanced measuring is not how I'm operating here. :P
